Image analysis workstations at DaMBIC

The original laser is back on the Nikon A1 after its repair. This means it now has all the original laser lines; 407 nm, 440nm, 488 nm, 514 nm, 561 nm and 637 nm. ...and it can be used for imaging DAPI again ;)
The Leica SP8 confocal is now running again after the upgrade with 405 nm laser. You can now more straightforward image, for instance, Hoechst and DAPI with standard single photon emission.
The update has led to changes in the user interface, that widefield users should be aware of.

The NIS Elements software on the windows analysis workstation has been upgraded to 5.3.
New functionalities are e.g. “Clarify.ai” that is a pre-trained neural network meant for removing blur from widefield images.

Our Microscopy Officer has visited Queensland Brain Institute's Advanced Microimaging and Analysis Facility for 2 weeks in August 2018.

Danish Bioimaging meeting will take place in Odense on the 2nd of October.
As you all know we have suffered from CARS laser illness for a long time now.
46% respondent of the survey use Excel to plot graphs, this result reflects the situation with available graph plotting software at SDU.
Due to some problems with CARS laser, it will be sent for a repair on the 10th of June
We are happy to orgizine at SDU a lecture of a Director of Advanced Imaging Center at Janelia, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Virginia, USA)- Teong Leong Chew on the emerging microscopy technologies and on the program to support scientists coming to Janelia to perform their work on Janelia instruments.

The week 45 was very busy at DamBIC as we hosted Olympus confocal demostration. Thanks everyone for participation.
Between 6 November to 13th of November 2017 we are hosting a demo session of Olympus FV3000 confocal microscope.
Specifications
It is equipped with 7 lasers, 2 GaAsp detectors and two regular PMTs, resonant scanner and galvo scanner. Superresolution module and deconvolution. Able to go to 120nm resolution under specific conditions.

We are announcing a first cross-institutional PhD course in Bioimaging across Denmark involving SDU, KU,AU and AU, corresponding to 9 ECTS points in Spring semester 2018.
New powerful workstation is installed at DaMBIC and will be used primarily for image analysis like deconvolution.
The next Bioimaging course organized by DaMBIC will take place on the 22-26 of January 2018. It is a 5 ECTS one week intensive course.
We would like to offer a mini hands-on course on CARS microscopy for PhD students and SDU staff. The course is one day course and includes theory introduction (2 hours) and lab exercises (4 hours). After the course participants will be able to work independently on the Leica SP8 microscope at DaMBIC .
We would like to offer a Huygens imaging training for PhD students and academic staff.
Olympus ScanR microscope is demonstrated at DaMBIC until the end of August 2017 thanks to Olympus Denmark A/S.
After the repair confocal microscope Zeiss LSM510 is back to full operation.
New 10x air objective is available for users on Leica SP8 machine:
HC PL APO 10x/0.40 CS2 Plan apochromatic objective with superior color correction CS2, optimized for confocal scanning applications. This objective is ideal for simultaneous use of 405 nm and visible excitation with the TCS SP8. For use with 0.17 mm coverglass. Air immersion. Free working distance: 2.2 mm.
DaMBIC members are participating in the organization of 12 th Annual Biophysics PhD Meeting 2017 at Holbæk.
The meeting will take place June 21st -23rd 2017. It is free to attend and it worth 2 ECTS credits.
This years theme will be collaboration! We will have speakers from academia and industry with a focus on collaboration. Each participant will give a short 10 minute presentation on their own project.

Students have a possibility to drive their research project from the sample preparation step (tumor tissue extraction and labeling) to the microscopy and image analysis.
On the 1st of April the Danish Bioimaging collaboration agreement was signed. DaMBIC is now a part of Danish Bioimaging network.
DaMBIC is hosting one of the first year projects (FF501) at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, SDU.
Nikon andor spinning disk is ready for live cell imaging at CO2 atmosphere and 37C now. Temperature stability was tested and shows good results.
