Olympus ScanR Inverted Microscope is available for testing

New Olympus ScanR microscope is available at DaMBIC for the period of 3 months for testing and is provided by Olympus Denmark A/S.

The system is a modular microscope-based imaging platform designed for fully automated image acquisition and data analysis of biological samples. It uses simple wide field fluorescence imaging to capture images for analysis at high speed. The analysis is done in a unique way that you can set gates to find the data you want, e.g. Size or intensity or cells with 3 red dots etc. The system is good at finding rare events in a large cell population. Can run up to 1500 well plates and slides as well.

Typical applications:

  • Cell counting
  • Gene expression
  • Cell migration
  • Intracellular transport
  • Translocation
  • Cell proliferation
  • Promyelocytic leukaemia (PML) body assay
  • Bacterial and viral infection assays
  • Cell cycle analysis
  • Protein localisation and co-localisation
  • Live cell assays including kinetic analysis and gating on resulting response curves
  • Multi-coloured assays
  • Rare event analysis
  • Automated FISH analysis
  • Fluorescence analysis in tissue sections
  • Cell array screens
  • Micronuclei and comet assay

The system is equipped with 4x, 10x, 20x, 40x LWD, 60x LWD objectives, filter cubes for DAPI, GFP, Cy3, Cy5.
